At the End of the Rainbow...

Rainbow Girl has been on the q-snap over the past couple of weeks and I'm just about at the halfway mark on this next page...  It's hard to believe I haven't worked on this one since June 2016!  It doesn't seem like that long!

Reminder of Chart:  Rainbow Girl by Josephine Wall:
Previous progress:
Current progress: (EDIT:  I accidentally wrote 2 over 1 in the pictures below.  This is a 1 over 1 full cross)

There will be lots more brown to stitch in the second half of this page and I'll get to stitch that cute little badger in the bottom corner soon.

Happy Stitching! xxx

  3. who could resist a cute little Badger? I am curious, which do you prefer full crosses or tent stitch for HAEDs (I noticed you use both for your WIPs)? Once i discovered your tent stitching I switched all my HAEDs to that method for speed alone! The Maiden

    1. Ah, such complex questions to answer... It's not a straightforward decision for me. There are reasons why I use both and it depends on a whole lot of different factors. That's my short answer lol! ;)

The detail/confetti in a pattern one of my main considerations when deciding which type of stitch to use. I've found In some situations, coverage and neatness can be compromised when using tent stitch. This is why I will also often tent using variable strand amounts (according to colour) to achieve fuller coverage... Although, while I appreciate that tenting is speedier, coverage and neatness are higher priorities for me. For example, if the chart is riddled with confetti I prefer full cross because there is (in most cases) more stability using a full cross for single confetti stitches. I feel tent sits and covers better where there is mainly block stitching and low to moderate confetti levels. For this reason alone, I personally would not tent a high level confetti piece, or would try to avoid doing so where possible! ;) Although, plenty of Stitcher's do this without it being an issue for them, so it really just comes down to personal preference. While Rainbow Girl doesn't have much confetti at the moment, it does get much more intense in other parts of the pattern. This is why I felt more comfortable doing a full cross with this chart. I also consider the fabric count & type, colour palette and strand usage when deciding whether to use full cross or tent as well. So It's not a totally isolated decision but one I base off several different factors! I could keep taking about this extensively but my response is already very lengthy lol. :D It's all just my observations and experience though, so others will likely have different opinions and experiences. As long as you're happy with your stitching and enjoying the process, then that's all that matters at the end of the day xxx

  5. I can't seem to remember this one. Was I already following you? Can't say really.... My memory is awefull haha.. It does look gorgeous. Josephine always has so much detail and she makes it a true confettihell haha... But I won't mind. The more confetti, the more detail.
I love badgers to. Nice thing about this work is, is that you are constantly finishing something and that is a great encouragement I think. Well done.

    1. thanks Natascha! 😊 This one hasn't been worked on as much as some of the others. With the 9 wips on the go unfortunately some of them get neglected lol! So it's no wonder you can't remember it! The wip/chart page has pics of where I'm at with all the 9 projects started. I'm restraining myself so it says in single digits, cause I do want some finishes eventually! 😜
