Enchanted Stitching

Image
Enchanted Manor The past couple of weeks I've been working on page two of my Enchanted Manor Crop. Previous Progress: Current Progress: Iris I also stitched in all the parked threads leftover from the Challenge.  This is page 6 of Iris Keeper of the Rainbow: Previous Progress: Current Progress: Happy Stitching! xxx

Buried Treasure

Image
Back to Stitching... Treasure Hunt Bookshelf has been buried in my wip pile for awhile, so I decided to get it out and stitch for a bit!  I last worked on this back in June 2015!  With so many wips, it's kind of unavoidable that some of them start to get neglected.   Still it's been such a long time since working on it, that it almost felt like a new start lol! Thread Bear

Image
I’ve made a start on The Enchanted Manor by Josephine Wall. This one is being stitched on 14 count aida to boost the finished size of the crop.  I've never stitched on such a low count before and was curious to try it out! I’ve been working on this on and off over the past couple of months.  I'm using 4 over 1 full cross on dark colours and 3 over 1 full cross on everything else. Progress since December: I love it how Josephine painted a koala bear in the corner of this piece. The koala is native to Australia (my home country), which gives this piece a special resonance for me. Did you know that despite the fact they are often called Koala bears, Koalas aren't related to bears?! They are actually more closely related to kangaroos and wombats! They are often referred to as a koala bear because they have an obvious resemblance to a teddy bear… Currently I'm about halfway through the first page: Wishing everyone a safe and fun time over the Easter period ...

Megan Sends Her Regards!

I've been gifted Stephanie Pui-Mun Laws “Alice in Wonderland” inspired chart from my stitching friend Monica D. Vissoli! I’m sending out regards & thanks to Monica for “The Queen of Spades Sends her Regards!” This year actually marks the 150th Anniversary of Alice in Wonderland... So it's the perfect time to start stitching this chart! Link to chart Chart mock-up: I'm stitching it on 20 count Rose coloured Lugana, 2 over 1 full cross. I haven’t done much yet but here is my start! The two of spades foot is appearing!: I have very unconventional plans for how I want to finish this piece… but I’m not going to reveal them yet! Besides I need stitch it first lol! Funday Friday I also won a chart in the facebook “Funday Fridays” competition.   For the prize chart I picked “Of Earth, Air, Fire & Water” by Michele-Lee Phelan.  I’m cropping the art as I want a “lighter” more ethereal feel to the piece, which I think is achieved by cutting the dark ...

Hunting for Treasure...

Image
Treasure Hunt is such a confetti heavy pattern that it seems to be taking a long time to get not much done!  I admire anyone braving the whole chart!  Page number three of the cropped section is now finished and I'm just over halfway through page four.  There are ten pages all up. Previous progress: The project was not fitting on my q-snap frame well (I had to hold it with the longer length as the height, which just felt weird) so I went a hunting for my old scroll frame, which has been tucked away in the cupboard catching dust for some time!   All of my other projects are too big for this frame but Treasure Hunt fits on there nicely.  Now I'm back to stitching with the frame being longer in width which feels less weird!  Having the two frames in use means I can work multiple projects and not have to swap projects on and off the q-snap as much :D  Yay! This was also timed well because now the stitching won't end up with indentation marks from th...

Treasure Update!

I have made some progress on Treasure Hunt!  I have been wanting to go back and work on Iris though because the next page has lovely colours... So I've put this one down for the moment because I couldn't resist :)  Before:  After:

Treasure Hunt Update

Image
I’ve finished the top row on the Treasure Hunt Bookshelf Crop! I have just started stitching the lantern and the colors are still amazing! You can just make out the word “Book” on the pink book.  Actually it kind of looks more like "Boo!"  Unfortunately the detail of the book titles is not that clear, but I still think it’s a lovely chart. This is the normal size version so the titles would possibly be clearer on the larger version chart. I don’t normally grid my stitching but have found it helpful to do so with the confetti in this chart. Stitched on 18 Count Aida 3 over 1 Full Cross Before October Update:
