Two of Spades

Queen of Spades Sends Her Regards Just a quick progress update!  I wanted to have this page completed by today's blog post, but got fed up with it and have put it aside for the moment.  The confetti is insane!  It's one of the most detailed pages I've stitched to date.  Part of the Two of Spades face is starting to show through!    Previous Progress: Current Progress: Happy stitching! xxx

Queen of Confetti!

The Queen of Spades Sends Her Regards, Then What? I've been stitching away on "The Queen of Spades" and hoped to have a page finish to reveal today... There is just so much confetti it didn't happen! It's been so refreshing to switch to a different piece, after spending what must've been months on Iris! I didn't realize just how much having a rotation of different projects keeps me motivated and inspired. Switching between pieces is fun, it creates excitement and keeps things interesting... Previous Progress: Current progress: Have an awesome weekend! Happy Stitching, xxx

Yipee! I've Finished Challenge #3!!!

Iris Keeper of the Rainbow  My stitchy bug is still missing and I've still got severe pain in my ears.  Although, despite not feeling great, I've managed to persevere and finish the Challenge! Previous progress: More progress: The parking became a bit intense towards the bottom of the page! Page 5 completed: Overall progress to date: I obviously need to go back and finish page three...  Iris is coming off the q-snap for a bit now though!  Parking Method Evaluation Parking is not my usual stitching method.  I didn't mind it to begin with with...  However, the parked threads really started getting in the way in the more intense/detailed sections and trying to stitch around them was annoying!  I'm not sure that this method really suits me for that reason.  Although, I may still try it again at some point under different conditions, as I didn't enjoy being restricted to rows.  I did like the times where the parked threads could be wor...

You Are What You Eat My sister stitched this piece and gifted it to me years ago! I didn’t have a space to hang it at the time so put it away. It got unearthed while sorting through things and I realized it would look great hanging in my kitchen! Silly Snobs Designs "You Are What You Eat" Stitched by Laura Graco 18 count aida 2 over 1 I felt inspired to play around with adding colour to create a bit more excitement… So I experimented with some food dye and added some metallic thread. The separator lines were extended and I added a colour pattern to them in tent stitch! I need to straighten the gold matt but here it is now: More Fish On the subject of fish… I was very lucky to receive Antiquated Thoughts as an Easter RAK from Sandra Popek. I love the goldfish in this! A big thank you to Sandra for her gift! I think this one will make an awesome companion piece to Umbrella Sky with it's goldfish. Antiquated Thoughts by Annie Stegg ...

Curiouser & Curiouser!

The Queen of Spades Sends Her Regards I’ve come back to the Alice in Wonderland inspired chart I’m stitching by Stephanie Pui-Mun Law. This one is a bit of fun and funnily enough I am stitching it sideways… It makes me think of Alice’s fall down the rabbit hole and it’s kind of appropriate to not stitch this one the “right way up” or the “normal” way! Here is start on the next page: Previous Progress: Current Progress: The Curious thing about Stitching Sideways: I stitch landscape orientation charts sideways because they fit better on the q-snap frame that way. It means I don't have the snaps digging into the stitching as much (which I feel can damage the stitching to a certain extent, even with fabric between the snaps and stitches). Sideways... Here is a tutorial on Sideways Stitching for everyone who is unsure about how to approach it and interested in trying it out!  For future reference I’ll make the pdf file permanently available on my downloads page. Challenges...

Spirit of Flight has been somewhat unintentionally neglected! So I picked it up again for the Facebook challenge that Michele set in The Official HAED group. The challenge was to complete a minimum of 400 stitches but I hoped to finish the page!  I’ve been working the Mystery Chart alongside this, which has slowed the process down.   I’ve also been having issues with pain in my hands and arms making stitching difficult.  Still I managed to persevere and almost get the page finished... but  I was missing one floss colour… argh!  So here is most of page 19, minus 3781!  It's now 4080 stitches down and 2.67 percent done. Progress:   Happy Thanksgiving to everyone celebrating it (we don't here in Australia).  May you all have a wonderful day with your families!  Best wishes! xxx

I've been gifted Stephanie Pui-Mun Laws “Alice in Wonderland” inspired chart from my stitching friend Monica D. Vissoli! I’m sending out regards & thanks to Monica for “The Queen of Spades Sends her Regards!” This year actually marks the 150th Anniversary of Alice in Wonderland... So it's the perfect time to start stitching this chart! Link to chart Chart mock-up: I'm stitching it on 20 count Rose coloured Lugana, 2 over 1 full cross. I haven’t done much yet but here is my start! The two of spades foot is appearing!: I have very unconventional plans for how I want to finish this piece… but I’m not going to reveal them yet! Besides I need stitch it first lol! Funday Friday I also won a chart in the facebook “Funday Fridays” competition.   For the prize chart I picked “Of Earth, Air, Fire & Water” by Michele-Lee Phelan.  I’m cropping the art as I want a “lighter” more ethereal feel to the piece, which I think is achieved by cutting the dark ...
