The Two of Spades Foot & Take Two on Goals!

Image
Two of Spades I have my first page finish on the Queen of Spades Sends Her Regards!  The Two of Spades finally has his foot!  I've started on page 19 which is a partial page at the bottom left hand corner of the chart. Previous Progress: Current Progress: Two Gifts  I had a wonderful Birthday this week and was gifted a gorgeous ball of wool!  I will eventually knit or crotchet it into something!  My sister also made me a cross stitch of my cat Matisse, which is still being finished. I’ll share pictures when it’s done!  Matisse when she was a little kitty (this is the photo being stitched minus the slippers lol!): Take Two on Goals  In light of recent events I’ve decided to change and revise my yearly stitching goals!  They were falling behind due to the Mystery Chart (which I didn’t acc...

Singing & Stitching

Image
I’ve finished page 6 of Nocturne, which means the whole top row is now finished! This is tented on 25 count lugana using 2 over 1 on the light colours and 3 over 1 on the dark and mid tones. Previous progress: Current progress: I extended my Q-snap from an 11x17 to a 14x20 inch frame. Nocturne now fits perfectly across the width of the frame, which means no frame creases in the sides!!! When I ordered the Q-snap extension kit I also got a small 8x8 inch frame for the Mystery Chart… Well the 8x8 inch has actually now morphed into an 11x11 inch thanks to the extra extension kit in my box of q-snap goodies! Anyway, the Mystery Chart now snaps nicely into my microphone stand… and I’m singing away … I mean stitching away! ;) Q-snap Goodies: Bird Song I’ve dived into page two of the mystery chart and the birds are taking shape. The top row is only two pages… I’m thinking I will change approach and cross country the whole next row once this row is done. I normall...

The Framing of Umbrella Sky Part 2

Image
I won't write "a novel" for part 2... I'll just cut straight to the reveal and bombard you all with photos! Here she is finally framed: This one I took with the camera flash turned on: Different angle: I choose a silver coloured frame because it was much more complementary than the darker frames I was initially looking at. I felt like I wanted some metallic element in there from the start. Blacks were just too dark and wood didn’t look right. I think the lighter color really brings her out and that’s where the attention should rightly go! Frame moulding up close:   I went with the conservation clear glass (cuts out UV) to hopefully prevent any potential fading from exposure to light. Unfortunately this shot ended up a bit blurry it gives an idea of the size anyway! I am quite tall for the record!: I think it turned out well after the long process to get to this point.  Now, back to stitching my wips!

Happy New Year!

Image
I’ve been working on Iris and have almost finished another page. I’ve just tucked into another confetti heavy section. The colors on this page have just been a delight to stitch. Previous Progress: Progress Update: I’m also participating in the Heaven and Earth Designs Facebook SAL in 2015.  So for the record here is an overview where my projects are at as of 1st January 2015 (or close enough depending on your timezone;)  I have currently completed page 1&2 of the Treasure Hunt Crop and a small amount of page 3&4.  I have finished 4 pages of Nocturne and just over 1 and a half on Iris.  We'll see how much I can stitch in a year!   I hope you all had a lovely Christmas/Holidays with family and loved ones. Wishing you all lots of love and light (and wonderful hours stitching) in 2015! Happy New Year!

Iris Keeper of the Rainbow, New Start

Image
Here is my start on Iris Keeper of the Rainbow. After all the navy stitches in Nocturne I have really enjoyed using some brighter threads! Although I should probably be posting something dark and scary in light of Halloween Celebrations :)  I am enjoying stitching this one on 20 count Aida (2 over 1, full cross).  Happy Halloween and stitching!    Start of Confetti Section: Page One Finished:

Rewards Program

Image
I finished Umbrella Sky in time to enter the Heaven & Earth Rewards Program (runs until the end of August).   The chart I picked for the reward is Iris Keeper of the Rainbow by Josephine Wall.   I seem to be getting quite a collection now! This is a huge chart at 450x600 stitches! I think it will be awhile before I start Iris... I almost completed half a page of Josephine's Spirit of Flight.  However, looking at it last night have decided I need to restart using different fabric.  I started it on 22 count Charles Craft hardanger fabric and definitely prefer the quality of the Zweigart branded hardanger I used on Umbrella...    Dahlig was also a very different stitch to Jo Wall!  The blocks of color in Dahlig pattern were easier to make look neat on the 22ct hardanger.  However, when you add a whole lot of confetti into the picture it makes it more difficult.   I thinking I will get some 20 count Aida...
